What Diet Should You Follow?

Think of the diets you or the people around you have tried.

Keto, vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, atkins, fast metabolism, whole 30 and the list goes on.

There is one thing I see that’s common with just about every single diet, they are not the long term solution.

Even the term “diet” puts a predetermined thought in our head that once we hit our goal we can stop the “diet”—> Reason #1 why you DO NOT need to follow another diet. So what should we do instead?

What we can do instead is change our eating patterns and sustain those changes for the long haul.

Step #1: Eat protein

We all tend to fall short on our protein goal and for good reason, it’s hard to eat enough of It. But that protein is not only going to give us some help in building muscle and giving us the body we are striving for, It’s also going to give us the most amount of nutrients that will help us live and feel the best we can.

Step #2: Eat fruits and vegetables

Taking us back to when we had to finish our veggies before leaving the dinner table. Fruits and vegetables have been thrown at us for a lifetime and we still don’t eat them!

There is no need to stress too much about what specific fruits and vegetables, just eat more of them. Try to have them with two meals each day and maybe for a snack during the day as well.

And for anyone thinking this, no fruit does not have too much sugar.

Step #3: Fiber is your friend

I am going to keep this short because It ties in closely with step #2. More fiber is one of the best things you can do for your body and how it functions.

How do we get more fiber–> eat more fruits and vegetables.

Step #4: Enjoy the things you want

Every once in a while It’s good to have something that maybe doesn’t follow along with what we just went over.

You don’t have to cut these things out completely but once the majority of your day is made up of steps 1-3, you deserve step 4 to keep things moving smoothly and know that there are no rules because this isn’t a “diet”.

This is just the way you eat and when you eat the way you want you can have the things you want (within reason).

The main premise of these steps is we want to be eating foods that help our body function and feel good. On top of that, this is a great way to make changes in how your body looks and performs as well. Food doesn’t just optimize one thing, It optimizes the entire chain.

In good health,

Jeff
