Timelines suck.
Timelines are arbitrary (when It comes to health and fitness).
We set a schedule for ourselves to reach a certain goal without any idea how long It should actually take. The way your body loses weight and gains muscle will be so much different than your friend looking to do the same thing. Or the person you saw online who lost 20lbs in 5 days.
These timelines are setting us up to be discouraged. And what happens when we are discouraged, we tend to stop.
Think of It on a wider scale, if you don’t reach that goal by that exact date, what’s the worst that can happen? The world keeps spinning, and you have to keep working to get where you want to be.
Don’t stop just because you aren’t there right this second because all that work you have done will go to waste.
Any forward progress is positive, and you should celebrate those small wins. The fact that you were able to give effort and see a result is awesome. Now, you just have to stick with It and do It again, and again, until you realize that you will get there, It will just take time.
The worst case scenario is never as bad as we make It out to be. Whether you are trying to see some change for a wedding, bathing suit season, or a family reunion, not all is lost if you don’t hit that target.
Think of the things you have achieved so far, because without that work you would be even farther from that goal than you are today.
Keep pushing, and stop being so hard on yourself!
In good health,
Jeff
