What Should We Eat?

Think of the diets you or the people around you have tried.

Keto, vegan, vegetarian, carnivore, atkins, fast metabolism, whole 30 and the list goes on.

There is one thing I see that’s common with just about every single diet, they are not the long term solution.

Even the term “diet” puts a predetermined thought in our head that once we hit our goal we can stop the “diet”. That’s reason #1 why you DO NOT need to follow another diet. So what should we do instead?

Step #1: Eat protein

We all tend to fall short on our protein goal and for good reason, it’s hard to eat enough of It. But that protein is not only going to give us some help leaning out and getting stronger, It’s also going to give us the most amount of nutrients to help us live and feel the best we can.

Step #2: Eat fruits and vegetables

As kids, It was always, “eat your vegetables and then you can have this treat”. Most of our lives we have been told to eat fruits and vegetables but we still find ways to avoid them.

There is no need to stress too much about what specific fruits and vegetables, just eat more of them. Try to have them with two meals each day and maybe for a snack during the day as well.

And no, fruit does not have too much sugar.

Step #3: Fiber is your friend

I am going to keep this short because It ties in closely with step #2. More fiber is one of the best things you can do for your body and how it functions.

How do we get more fiber–> eat more fruits and vegetables.

(Other sources of fiber: beans, nuts, oats, lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, seeds)

Step #4: Eat Real Food

Eating all natural, organic, whole foods is the goal. No, It’s not easy but these are the foods that are going to treat your body the absolute best. There are no additives, no fillers, no extra shit that your body doesn’t know what to do with.

These foods don’t have an ingredient list. Chicken is chicken, bananas are bananas, and potatoes are potatoes. The concept is simple but this way of eating takes planning and effort.

The main premise of these steps is we want to be eating foods that help our body function and feel good. On top of that, this is a great way to make changes in how your body looks and functions as well. Food doesn’t just optimize one thing, It optimizes the entire chain.

In good health,

Jeff
