Tunnel vision when It comes to progress is ruining your potential.
There is not only one way to see change in the right direction. Take the gym for example, doing more weight is not the only way to see progress.
You could:
Add more reps
Move the weight faster
Have things feel easier
Take less rest
Add in a tempo
Add more sets
Increase your range of motion
All these things can correlate to some sort of progress when It comes to your workouts. So if we only focus on our absolute strength in the gym you are missing out on all these other factors, which can be discouraging.
This can be said for any single goal. There are so many factors that come into play to see positive change. So let’s take your goal.
List out every single thing that COULD be a positive change on the road to your goal. If you are looking to lose weight some examples could be feeling more energized, sleeping better, or eating three consistent meals every day.
It’s not JUST the weight on the scale that allows us to say we are seeing progress, change happens in so many different ways that will lead to that weight loss. Find those small steps forward for your goal and be happy with every single one.
Open up to all these other forms of progress and celebrate those small wins.
In good health,
Jeff
