Mindset Change

In just about every article I write there is some discussion about how long It will take to reach your goals. The consensus–a long time, BUT we have to do our best to enjoy the process.

(This is my subtle way of adding It into this article too!)

Okay now that we established that I want to discuss changing our mindset from the get go to see results in not only the best way but the fastest way as well.

When we start a new exercise routine or a new diet we are so proud of ourselves. The first step was taken, the road ahead will be hard but we are ready for it!

Now we are feeling good about all these changes and hard work, we step on the scale to see all that progress we made, and nothing. The scale is the exact same, or even worse, the weight has gone up. All that happiness is now flushed down the drain and not only that, but now we are discouraged and questioning all the work we have already done.

Let’s revert back to the beginning–this stuff takes time and alot of It.

The eagerness and joy from doing “good” things makes us think we deserve to see a result.

No.

The mindset needs to be changed from the get-go. Stop worrying about your long term goal for a minute. Think about the steps It is going to take to get there.

You want to improve your body-fat percentage and see some muscle on your body. Great, we are going to need to get pretty strong, move really well, eat clean, drink water, move often, and sleep consistently.

Now that we know what It’s going to take to get there, we don’t need to focus on weighing in everyday or be discouraged if a speed bump comes up.

Our focus needs to be on the things that will get us there.

Are you getting stronger?

Are you eating the right way?

Are you moving really well in the gym?

Let’s change our mindset to focusing on the things that really matter and maybe a few months down the line we check in and see if the numbers are following along to all our other indicators (and I bet It will).

Change your mindset from the get-go, focus on the important things, and you will be closer to your goals everyday.

In good health,

Jeff
