What Do You Want?

Are you looking for just weight loss? Is the number on the scale the only thing that matters to you?

If so, great, we can work with that.

We can manipulate your current eating habits to move the numbers on the scale greatly. 

Maybe you don’t just want to lose weight. You may actually want to look better or feel better, maybe even just perform better in your everyday life. 

If that is the case then weight loss IS NOT what you are looking for. 

What you are looking for then is a plan that will implement MANY different behavior changes that will allow your body to do what is asked of It. 

The first step is always knowing what you are truly after. Because different goals require different plans.

From here we can set up your plan to match your goals.

If you are still just looking for weight loss then nutrition will be the biggest factor in getting you to your ideal weight. Movement may come into play at some point to help along the way. 

If you are aiming to change the way your body looks or feels then we need to dive deeper.

When we are changing your body, a big piece to the puzzle is body composition, body fat percentage and muscle mass. This takes time because It is not a linear progression. If we just start cutting calories and doing cardio, where is your muscle mass going to come from? If we just begin lifting and eating without control, how will your body fat percentage look in a few months?

We want to focus on changing these numbers over time in the right direction.

Here is my checklist I like to start with:

-Get on a good training program (2-4 days/week of resistance training)

-Track your workouts/progress 

-Track and know what you are eating/drinking

-Work hard, recover harder

-Slowly increase your metabolism

-Move everyday

-Focus on getting stronger with your exercises

-Monitor sleep, food, water to manipulate when needed

These are not the only things you will have to do to improve your body composition but they will have a big impact on how things move. Now the food tracking is a big step and it’s not easy. It takes time and effort but once you know what you body is taking in you will have an idea of what can be done to lean one way or another. 

Or if you begin working with a coach/nutritionist, you already have a log of information for them to follow along with.

Things such as stress management, sleep, movement quality, exercise quality, progressive overload, nutrition quality will also have an impact on your progress.

But a lot more effort goes into your goals other than just the number on the scale.

So think to yourself, if you couldn’t step on a scale for an entire month, what would mean more to you, your body looking the exact same but being at your ideal weight, or being the same weight on the scale but your body looking and feeling completely different?

It is not easy to decipher what we are truly looking for. When It comes to changing something about ourselves we have to dig deep and find what we need to get ourselves on the right path to achieve those goals.
